You do not have to put your cats down!

Hardwood floors and cats mix perfectly well together. They won’t scratch the floors. Trim their nails, put on nail caps. Cover the floors with throw rugs, but please do not put your cats down. I will give you a few cat scratching towers if you need something for them to scratch. I gave cats and hardwood floors. My cats have never damaged my flooring. Curtains, rugs, and a piece of furniture or two is another story, but never my hardwood floors. A good wax buffs any small scratches out pretty easily anyways. Look to rehome them if you must, but please don’t put them down.

People are short-sighted and unfortunately inconsiderate when it comes to animal ownership. This applies to the majority of owners (and would-be owners), but don’t forget that there is a good sizable population of animal owners that do care for their pets the way you hope they would.

Usually if people want to put their cats down, it’s not just the floors.
