Working from home with a kid

I am considering quitting my job because I cannot manage watching my child and working from home at the same time.

I work in customer service and every thing I do is tracked, including time away from my computer. I am exhausted and nobody in my house is happy. My young child is not happy because he’s ignored all day. I’m not happy because I’m trying to be both a good employee and a good mom at the same exact time (and to be honest, I don’t feel like I’m succeeding at either role) and my husband isn’t happy because apparently all I do is complain. (Imagine?!) I’m so tired from the emotional rollercoaster of never knowing what is happening next week. Has anyone opted out of the workforce and do you regret it? We truly can’t afford to do this, but the alternative of knowing my child has 100% of my time feels so valuable…however…neither option feels like the right choice.

What has been your experience? I know I’m privileged to work from home and yes, I am grateful to still have an income.
