The Great Walkabout is on a mission to walk across Canada for Diabetes awareness.
Jeff Laybolt began his trek across Canada to raise $10,000 for Diabetes Canada on March 1st from Shubie, NS.
He’s been walking for two weeks now and is currently (once again) in the backwoods with no service for a few days.
He’s getting support from numerous places including Diabetes Canada and Banting House (such an incredible place, it’s the birthplace of insulin) Did you know the queen mother lit the blue flame of hope there in 1989 and it will not be extinguished until a cure is found for Type 1, and only the team who cures it will be the ones to extinguish it?
Diabetes, both Type 1 and 2 are becoming an epidemic and Jeff is spending ten months hiking across Canada to raise both awareness and money that will go to research.
We are getting so close to treatments we never could have imagined so this is more important than ever.
It’s been an incredible journey so far and he’s faced a lot of obstacles with the snowstorms in Nova Scotia.
Jeff was driven to do this as family and friends of his have been living with both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
Him and his family are such kindhearted upbeat people and they’re very confident and proud of him.
His Facebook page is definitely worth checking out and the more followers we can get, the more he’ll see that people care. You can also check out his Instagram, track his location and check out his YouTube channel from it 💙
