Management of York Extendicare

I just wanted to give a HUGE shoutout to the PATHETIC management team at York Extendicare. Day after day, month after month for many many years I’ve heard both positive and negative from my spouse about the management of this facility. For many years my spouse has come home, after a LONG HARD DAY TAKING CARE OF OUR ELDERLY, tired but also in a fairly good mood. Happy for the job that they perform with residents they love. My spouse is always a happy person who loves the job they do.

HOWEVER as of late, within the past several years now, I’ve been hearing more and more negativity about how the moral in the building is at an all time low. I’m seeing my wonderful, full of life, spouse becoming more and more depressed about the building that they have to go to and work for an employer who appears to care less about the REAL TEAM and more about themselves. That the management has done NOTHING for the workers in several years now. I remember hearing about how good the management was there and how the management had dinners for the employees and created an atmosphere of gratitude for the jobs that these HARD WORKING HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS do on a daily basis. The former management teams at least said Merry Christmas to the employees while they served, YES the management team would serve the employees, a beautiful Christmas Dinner.
Hmmm, i honestly can’t remember the last time I heard from my spouse about something nice the management team has done for them. In fact I even over heard a story about how the management was asked about possibly going around to say something to the employees during this holiday season only to have one manager named Tracy go up to the floors and removed all the gifts that residents and families had given to the employees. Apparently this was all to be put into the cafeteria for all to enjoy. However my spouse also noticed that any gift baskets given to management were never presented to the cafeteria for ALL to share. Nice double standards there.
All I can say is the same that Greta Thunberg screamed at the United Nations, “SHAME ON YOU!”
PUTTING YOURSELVES BEFORE THE REAL TEAM!

I would love to attach my name to this rant however I am afraid of the backlash this, so called administration, would cause my spouse.

It’s not easy for someone to come out and stand against a corporation or large business like Extendicare. The reason this post is anonymous is probably because the employee being talked about here might suffer consequences if his or her name were to be made public. This type of thing is far from rare and we all know this.

My wife works there too, her only complaint is lack of staff parking

Sorry that you feel that way. On a very positive note, I’d like to share my experience of Extendicare York. My mother was a resident of Extendicare York for 5 months, before she recently passed away. The caregivers at this facility (at least the ones on my mothers floor) were exceptional. Myself and my family were there daily and were able to observe first hand, the love, care and compassion they showed to the residents. Thank you to the nurses and PSWs who work tirelessly, your efforts did not go unnoticed. Thank you for the loving care you provided to my mom.

Very weak. If you want to slam anyone publically at least have the balls to post your name. Your spouse is likely depressed because they have to come home to a spineless loser like yourself.

Ohhhh… I would think not lol. You chum, very much sound like someone backing up a few players on the other team. Make no mistake, I get the sense that things will be looked into whether you give your blessing or not. Your own attitude seems to match what is described in the post. And much to the contrary, it is anything but weak to speak up against needed points of improvement. In this instance, sounds like it`s long overdue. Your own best shot seems like the obvious weak response, which is to get on the attack and resort to 10 year old name calling. Way to be Sudbury. Sudbury never feels the need to improve, which is why it is the way it is. Unfortunately it is far too often only when things are brought out into the light, that they do improve. That chum-o, is how it works when facts point to it being the only path to resolution. A sense of well-being is not reserved to a select few. Sudbury would do well to learn this someday. It is a very slow learner…

If I am wrong, why hide behind a keyboard? The problem with people like your spouse is that they do not have the tools to attempt to better their situation. You claim to have laid out facts, but they are just hearsay (per your claims) from a negative person in your life (per your comments).
It is always easier to blame others instead of taking the bull by the horns and confronting the concerns directly.
This concern that you initially posted is NOT a Sudbury issue. It is YOUR issue. You need to look deeper and possibly seek out counseling for you and your significant other.

I commend Brock for calling this post out. I agree that this form of ranting and calling people out is a ridiculous act of cowardice and hypo-criticism. Shame on you….and just on the off-chance you’re not the OP, then shame on the OP, too.
