Intermittent fasting question

I’m thinking of trying intermittent fasting 16:8, from 11am-7pm. My question is can I still have a coffee with 1 cream at 8am or does this completely screw things up?

Better to move to only black. One cream won’t totally take you out of a fast but black coffee is always better

I am doing this right now
    water – black coffee- tea
    (no extra add ins)
it doesn’t take too long for your body to get use to it
probably about 3 weeks or so and then you won’t even notice its time to eat

  3. Depends on what your goals are. If you’re a purist you should only consume water during a fasting period. Otherwise you can drink black coffee. If you consume less than 50 calories an hour it would not break a fast. So a splash of cream or milk in your coffee shouldn’t be too bad. I wouldn’t add any sugar because it would spike your glucose levels.

  4. I do 24 hour fasts lots . Helps cleanse your system and increase white blood cell count . Just drink water for 24 hours .

If you need some caffeine in the morning, maybe try a matcha green tea powder instead of coffee. Perks me up way more than coffee and it wouldn’t mess up your IF

  8. 11am – 7pm is when they eat, all other hours of the day they’re supposed not consume anything.

Yes you can because your fasting window is from 11am to 8pm.
Your coffee is at 8:00AM(within your feeding window)
Your feeding window is from 8pm to 11am . Coffee cream milk coconut milk , add
    Protein..doesn’t matter.

    • Gail Decaire they’re fasting from 8pm-11am. (Safe assumption based on what they said and also that with intermittent fasting you always fast for a longer period of time than your eating window).

Also a safe assumption that they wouldnt be asking if a coffee would ruin the fast if they were consuming it during the eating window.

Woodrow Beardsley that’s incorrect! You can do intermittent fasting at anytime to suit your lifestyle, graveyard shift, night shift workers or daytime.

Norman, what you wrote was perfect, “8am coffee wouldn’t interfere with his fast as his feeding was before the fasting time.

  21. Only black coffee. Also don’t eat anything at all when you get up. Unless you get up at 11, don’t eat anything before then
