Indian Street?

Why would Sudbury still have a street named Indian Street in the year 2021? This is disrespectful and outdated.

Petition your ward’s Councillor and the city’s Mayor demanding better.

It’s named for India’s people, how about the french word for Corn, now there is a trigger for ya.

Just fuck off. Do people have anything better to do other then look for triggers to offend them?

It makes me uncomfortable too. I know someone who lives there and it always strikes me as weird every time we talk about the name of the road. I agree it should be changed

I lived at that apartment for a couple of years and I never even thought about the name.
It’s just a name it doesn’t mean anything it’s how you use it. Besides the government still uses the term, like it doesn’t bug me and I’m native. Besides people from India are called the Indians.

Wasn’t talking about the apartments, and disagree with you totally on this. The word ‘indian’ shouldn’t even be in our vocabulary in reference to native/indigenous folks

The Canadian government created the hugely problematic Indian Act what, like 150 years ago, ….that’s your argument for keeping and accepting the word today?

The apartments are on indian road. Who cares what fuckin house you were talking about. If an indian isnt offended why the fuck are you.

Why so angry, Boo? Bad vibe all around

Why so angry??? If you are ok with the world around us right now, you need to wake up. This offended, cancel culture, racist screaming, far left group trying to speak for everyone and dictate how everyone should live and function need to come back to reality. Lifelong liberal voter turned completely right, unconditional human loving no matter social status, race, sexuality etc turning into a bigot. The deranged left and their ideologies are picking our once beautiful free polite country apart piece by piece and turning neighbours against each other. We are literally heading for civil war in north america, how anyone can’t see that is beyond me. The government works for us, we elect and pay them to lead our country, not rule us with an iron fist. It pains me that I wont be around to protect my children long enough.

Righting wrongs is not the same as cancel culture. You need a good therapist

Who decides what’s wrong? The alternate-extreme leftists right now do. And they only use half of the facts available to make their point if they even have one.

Ultimately the voters are the ones making the decisions. It eases my mind that you are not the decision maker because you’re clearly coming at it from an emotional, frustrated standpoint. Decision makers need to be reasonable, meaning they have to be able to separate themselves from the emotion of the decision at hand and see both sides on their way through it. Nothing you say makes me think you have the capacity to do such a thing.

Liberals cannot seperate emotion from decision-making. Everything our government does is based on emotion not facts, and we the peons suffer because of such poor decisions. If a drama teacher can be prime-minister solely based on looks/popularity I could very well be the next PM with my background. And we are surprised when our country turns into a drama-filled cesspool after we elected the guy for 2 terms.
