Help finding a lawyer in Sudbury!

Hi, I have been fighting on & off in court with my ex since 2012 regarding custody & access & later on money issues. My ex is an untreated schizophrenic who has assault charges against me & more then one call to CAS regarding our daughter over 10 years. Now, his family being lawyers knows several other lawyers. My first lawyer through legal aid made false statements to me & negotiated an illegal deal which cost me $8,000. I showed legal aid & was given a new lawyer, she did not ever answer calls, acted like every meeting was our first & lost my paperwork. She told me I couldn’t do anything. Shortly after she was disbarred.

My grandpa stepped in & hired me a more accredited lawyer who took on the case which had immediate need to look at support as my ex was trying to intimidate me into signing off to stop all support. Once completed I thought this time it went ok. The next thing the 10 year old child is claiming physical abuse & fear again! So back to filing urgent papers, working with police & CAS etc. I call my lawyer who tells me he can’t help me because it’s a confluct of interest as he’s friend’s with the brother… but he took my case last year? So I have made mad calls, my grandpa & step dad again are ready & willing to pay but due to the urgency, time of year & the ex’s family connections I cannot find help! ☹ CAS is helping but filings are taking me hours at this point. The judge in the interm order appointed the office of the children’s lawyer & we’re waiting on that now 🤞

In short I need a lawyer that can help me like ASAP. I can pay the retainer & costs etc. Just need some help through the system. I can’t even get many call backs going through the phone book. Any suggestions would help. Money shouldn’t protect monsters.

Try hiring a lawyer from out of town. Will be a little more expensive, but he/she probably wont be biased

Sudbury is perfectly corrupt. I have no advice, lawyers and judges accepting bribes and pay offs are exactly how I lost my sister.

    • I agree with u..sudbury is corrupt..I trust no judge or law enforcement.the judge I’m in front of for access says got to wait for ocl. Before I see granddaughter cause don’t want mom to relapse on drugs for the 6th time

In this case there was no drugs, no alcohol, just selfish controlling spiteful people.

    • People need to stop using kids as pawns, including lawyers and judges, that listen to lies after lies, destroying families and putting people into debt, just so can get more money! They don’ t care about people and children!!! There should be a law that people making false allegations should not be able to continue and keep bringing people back to court and costing, not only financial but emotional distress! Shame on this guys family! If their son has a mental disorder that is not being treated, how is this good for child to be with him????

  14. Well first of all, conflict of interest only occurs when the lawyer is representing a family member. So right therr, the lawyer is a liar. Secondly, look somewhere outside of Sudbury for a lawyer, you’ll have a better chance at getting a Shark from Toronto or Ottawa. Good luck

  15. Just get one from out of town. It is what I did. I’m a single dad and was held back from seeing my daughter a full year while my ex ran to another town and hid from me.
I found her and boy was she ever in trouble with the judge. I probably wouldn’t have even needed a lawyer after that.
But yes, just get one a city or two away.

Cole Calpstone or represent her case through duty counsel so the judge hears the case.. cant deny child abuse nor domestic violence cases. If the proof is there, I dont think there would be an issue with the court decision of siding with mom for a bit

      [0]
    • Cecilio West yeah, I’m not giving to much information as there are two sides to every story and it’s for a judge to figure out. It’s nice that judges swing both ways now adays and don’t just side with the women

You need to file some serious complaints with the bar association.

    • Cecilio West Cecilio West says:

Tara Major yes or sit tight and let the truth unfold… obviously the guy is abusive. I dont think the law would care. 90% of these cases goes to the mother and child regardless having a lawyer.. lawyers help the situation only and if there’s no conflict of interests. Sadly to say sudbury is small and everyone is connected.. this person should speak her mind and let things unfold through duty counsel until she finds a lawyer that will represent her…

      [0]
    • Tara Major the bar association will cover for their incompetent lawyers. They are all buddies. Don’t have faith in the system that is part of the corrupt system. Take it from someone experienced the bar are crooks.

I do take clients in Sudbury. But we aren’t permitted to practice family law just yet. Wish I could help.

  21. There is a saying and I have seen it proven over and over again. You are your best advocate. Educate yourself. There is not a person in the world who will care more about situation than you will. Be calm cool and collected. Buy yourself some court clerk books and self represent. Attend legal clinics if you need help.

  22. Start reading cause you ll never find a lawyer that will fight they love one thing and it ain’t justice it’s money. Educate yourself you have a better chance that way. Don’t go with Talbot neither he’s an awful lawyer.
