Discrimination at Northwood clinic

Yesterday evening, I brought my 3 year old into the Lassalle North wood clinic, for what was suspected to be a sinus infection. Upon registration, when asked what the issue was, I explained that he’d had cold symptoms for roughly 3 weeks, that weren’t going away, and that he had a very bad runny nose.

The receptionists first question was if anyone in our household was vaccinated other than my son. I replied that, that had nothing to do with my child’s care, but that only his father was vaccinated. The receptionist proceeded to explain that this doctor (Dr. Kopa) only did over the phone appointments, and that my child could not be examined by a doctor. I explained that I didn’t have a working phone at the moment, and that we live over a half hour outside of town. She then informed me that they would not give my child any medical care. Which resulted in my son and I to have to go to the emergency department at HSN to receive medical attention.

According to a triage nurse, this has become common practice for this clinic, to deny patients, their basic human right to unbiased medical care, and overwhelm the hospital system with patients, who do not need emergent care, but a simple examination and antibiotics. My son has a bacterial infection, that if i had not brought him to the emergency department, he could have become seriously ill. We should have been seen at the clinic, to avoid wasting the hospital’s time, when there were dozens of other patients who clearly needed their attention more. The Northwood clinic has completely violated my son’s rights to unbiased health care, and I will not stand quiet, while they are allowed to do this to children, or adults!

If you have received similar discrimination from this clinic or others, please comment and I will reach out to you. I want to make this as big as we can! Our children’s rights will no longer be infringed upon!

Disgusting but hey makes the hospital look overwhelmed. How many clinic dr’s split their time between the clinic and the hospital??? So can’t assist a patient in a clinic but not a problem at the hospital? Same fuckin drs! I forgot that covid picks and chooses where and when it strikes though, like if you are standing in a restaurant it’ll get ya but sitting you are safe, or walking the wrong way down an aisle in the store covid is very directional, at one point it was only targeting people that needed new clothes or a new tv so they saved us by not allowing you to buy a new tv while stuck at home. Now apparently it targets front line workers that were highly praised and thanked as heros just days ago, and every other “essential” worker for that matter. It also seems to be focused on north america, any country who is still under the queen, and any country who is ruled by libs/dems. Friggin super intelligent and quite picky virus if you ask me, and all this for something the vast majority has a 99% survival rate if if if they even catch it. One size fits all medical practice is not the solution.

It has been clinic policy since the start if covid to screen patients for covid symptoms. Those who do have them, like your kid, are usually asked to wait in their cars and the doctor does a phone call assessment. These rules are intended to keep everyone safe, including the vulnerable people in the waiting rooms. You aren’t vaccinated which also puts everyone at risk. You are making this into a drama that nobody needs. Good luck getting help

Well at least now it is right in front of peoples eyes. “The hospitals are overflowing” blah blah blah restrictions, blah blah blah must get the vax to bring hospital numbers down blah blah blah.

    By the way!
I AM vaccinated and wear a mask daily at work BUT this isn’t normal on ALL levels!!
Will not get anymore shots ! Because I’m smart enough to know it doesn’t help!!

Unbelievable!! Shame on them for making you go to emerge for a NON energy issue!! Has nothing to do with vaccines !! We’re you wearing a mask? Do you always wear one when out? Your child as well. Then WHY in the hell is everyone STILL wearing a mask and vaccinated still getting sick!?!?
WTF is wrong with this province /Country

Simple fix= get vaxxed and take responsibility for not having done so.

Health Care is NOT a “basic human right”. There are rules in place to protect the population from this terrible virus. There was no discrimination here by the clinic, but there was an ignorance of the rules on your behalf.

This is just another example of a millennial who does not care about anyone but themselves.
