Can I use my cable box at another house

Going to spend time at a family members place in town for a few days, we both have cable but they don’t have the same channels I like, could I bring my own cable box from home with my channels on it and connect it to their cable wire for the time I’m there? In theory it should work since we both have eastlink.

I am with Eastlink for internet and phone and tried my neighbours cable tv box while he was away for a while and it didn’t work. It wouldn’t load and I live in the same apartment building

I dont believe it would work, the cable channels that they pay for are for that address. Bringing your box wont help because the channels you pay for are NOT inside your box, they are to your home address. Bringing it to another address isnt going to work

There are what’s called “band pass filters” on the post that give you the channels you bought (cept basic) and, if you go someplace else, they may not have the same setup so you get what they paid for.

  4. IF it works then when I move, why do I need a technician? :@

  5. Gail Decaire maestro you need the internet hooked up to it. If your not tech savvy I wouldn’t bother. You’ll just end up messing up the install and have to have a tech go and fix it lol

  6. Gail Decaire no u can’t bring to camp. You can bring it whenever there is a connection to the cable and it has to be live. Like if your mom has Eastlink câble but isn’t subscribed to the movie channels but you have cable and the movie channels u could bring ur box to ur moms hook up the coax to it and watch the movie channels on your box. I don’t suggest doing that with the maestro.

Box? Even if the people have no cable?

  14. As long as they have internet

  15. As long as there’s a line in for the service you’re good. I have extra receivers on my service in other houses and we split the bill..

I don’t think so i think it has to do with the info that comes through their lines at their house

  17. Gail Decaire Gail Decaire says:

If they have no cable? I don’t think it works like Netflix. Mistro is wireless, so maybe mistro

  18. I would say no. Your channels are in the lines coming into your house not in the box.

  19. Just download your porn onto your phone. Problem solved lol.
