A Good Seed
A response to our poetic Sudbury friend…
It’s a beautiful song I choose to sing
The song of someone born, expecting nothing
But the love and care of those who are near
Longing for gentle sounds, loving to their ear
The warmness of touch and food to taste
With eyes we see all and absorb with great haste
Received or not, a human will grow
lukewarm in the sunlight, and chilled in the snow
One develops warmth, or turns somewhat cold
What all promotes this, we still do not know.
The message I sing is one to bring hope.
For those feeling, life is downward on a slope.
Vibrant flowers can rise from the sunshine or shade
Is your beauty the kind that will wear out and fade?
Some elegance lasts, still today there seems less
We can’t understand because we’re trying our best.
The mighty oak stands while beaten by the storm
A sun shines brightly beyond the clouds taking form
The birds fly high through the smog without fear
The river flows freely past the rocks, cool and clear
We all grow differently, and it’s been so forever
But trees stand stronger when they’re standing together.
